TrueBlue Coatings are a new approach to concrete coatings and flooring, as well as surface coatings, such as countertops and vanities. While UV curables have been around for many years, the application has been limited to OEM or In-Plant where the item to be coated is passed under a UV light on a production line. Items such as printed materials, floor tiles, hardwood flooring (individual pieces of wood) have been coated with UV-curables successfully.
Over the last 10 years, technology with regards to the UV lights and components has advanced to a point where a self-propelled machine with a mounted light can be rolled across a floor in what we call a “field-applied” coating application.
Our revolutionary chemistry is a game changer in the area of field-applied coatings, or in UV Flooring, UV Concrete Coatings, and UV Countertop Coatings. What makes the TrueBlue concept special is the unique Blue-to-Clear Cure Indicator. Here’s how it works:
First, the substrate must be prepared. This is ideally accomplished by diamond-grinding. Once the surface is prepared and cleaned, the coating is applied by squeegee and backrolled with a 1/4” nap roller. There is no mixing of “A” and “B” components, there is no pot life issue, and there is no flammability or VOC to create a hazard to the user or environment. Once the coating is applied, a brief period (30 minutes) is given for the coating to “self-level” and create a perfectly smooth finish. At this point, the entire floor will be light Blue (if a clear or white). The UV light is then passed over the floor. The very moment the light passes, the coating turns either clear or white, or whatever other color was originally selected. This color change is your indication that the coating is fully cured and the floor is ready for use. That’s it. No confusion on where you’ve cured, or where you need to pass a second time. The installation is now complete.
